What is Genmai?
Genmai is Japanese brown rice, also known as whole grain rice. Unlike white rice, it retains its bran layer, offering a distinctive taste and higher nutritional value. For genmaicha, the rice is gently roasted in a hot drum until golden brown, releasing a comforting aroma similar to popcorn or toasted nuts.
All ingredients – both the green tea and the roasted rice – are sourced directly from Japan, ensuring authentic taste and premium quality.
How to prepare?
- Use 1 tablespoon (about 8 g) of tea leaves per 240 ml of hot water.
- Pour water at 80 - 90°C to bring out the tea’s full aroma and taste.
- Steep for 40 seconds, then pour.
To maintain the tea’s delicate flavor and vibrant color, avoid leaving the leaves in water for too long.
Storage tip: Keep the tea in a tightly sealed bag to preserve its freshness and aroma!
